Turning tradition into something new: the SportScheck RUN in Nuremberg

For 23 years, runners have traditionally competed in the SportScheck RUN Nuremberg on 3 October. Only the SportScheck RUN Munich is older. However this year the RUN got a complete makeover. Approximately 6,500 participants in the newly designed RUN shirt stood on the starting line at the Opera House, and with the starting shot took off on the long-standing route through the city. Naturally we were also on site, we handled the implementation of the RUN and made the RUN an unforgettable experience for all participants.

SportScheck focused on the participants in this running season and accompanied them in advance during the preparation for the run. An extra run training program before the competition gave the participants the opportunity to really get back in shape. In addition, there was the possibility to obtain important training tips via social media. On the course, pacemakers were deployed to spur the runners on to even greater effort and the fans were able to provide atmosphere in the Cheering Zone. Without doubt some personal best times were possible thanks to these measures!

The children took part in the DAK Bambini RUN (600 m) and the DAK Kids RUN (1.7 km); the adults could choose between 6 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km. As in previous years, the route ran from the Opera House via Frauentorgraben, the Hauptbahnhof, Königstorgraben, and Pegnitz to Wöhrder Wiese and back on the other side of the Danube. On the way back the course ran over the island Schütt, Lorenzkirche, and Breite Gasse back to the Opera House.

At the finish area a red carpet was rolled out where the finishers could celebrate and pick up their medals. In the finish area the calories that were lost could be topped up and runners exchanged their experiences of the RUN.

This year as well the SportScheck RUN Nuremberg was a very successful event and we are looking forward to the next edition!
